50th Anniversary of the Friuli Earthquake (1976 – 2026)

On the occasion of the commemorations for the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Friuli earthquake, the Arena Alpe Adria in Lignano Sabbiadoro hosts an important event dedicated to memory, hospitality, and the rebirth of our communities.

This deep bond was born during the dramatic months of 1976, when Lignano welcomed over 20,000 displaced people along its coastline from the earthquake-stricken areas—including many citizens of Gemona del Friuli—transforming its passion for hospitality into an extraordinary and exemplary show of solidarity.

Unveiling Ceremony of the Sculptural Work

Official unveiling of the sculpture "L'equilibrio condiviso" (Shared Balance), created by Friulian artist Alessandra Aita as part of the art project "DUE RIVE, UN'UNICA MEMORIA" (Two Shores, One Memory), promoted jointly with the Municipality of Gemona del Friuli.

The initiative aims to create a dialogue between two symbolic places of the same story: the wound and the welcome, loss and reconstruction.
