July 25th is World Drowning Prevention Day. To mark the occasion, the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro, in collaboration with Lignano Sabbiadoro Gestioni, is organizing demonstration activities aimed at raising awareness about this important issue.
The day's program features two key events:
- From 4:00 PM – Awareness activities for children, organized by SOGIT – At the Beach Village Mini Club, in the Sport&Fun area of Beach Office 6 in Sabbiadoro.
- From 7:15 PM – Sea rescue and resuscitation demonstration – At the shoreline of Beach Office 5 in Sabbiadoro.
The initiative is promoted by the WHO, following the UN Resolution of April 2021, which aims to highlight the tragic and profound impact of drowning and offer life-saving prevention strategies.
For the third consecutive year in Italy, all Blue Flag locations—representing 257 municipalities—have joined the "Blue Flag: Safe at the Sea" campaign. They are dedicating July 25th to raising awareness and providing information on drowning prevention through meetings with local authorities and operators, beach safety and first aid demonstrations, and workshops for children.
