On November 27, 2026, the Bella Italia EFA Village Sports Hall in Lignano Sabbiadoro will host the most important international weightlifting event organized in Friuli Venezia Giulia during the current Olympic quadrennium. It is the most prestigious international weightlifting tournament, founded in 1965 by Marcello Zoratti (Friuli Venezia Giulia), David Koffel (Carinthia), and Janko Groselj (former Yugoslavia, now Slovenia).
Currently, it features the participation of three national teams—Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Slovenia—and four regional teams: Veneto (ITA), Friuli Venezia Giulia (ITA), Niederösterreich (AUT), and Zalaegerszeg (HUN).
