Grado Island Excursion: fishing port and ancient Roman town.
The city, built as a Roman port on the sea in Acquileia, gained importance at the time of the barbarian invasions as an outpost, against the Huns in particular.
The old town centre -with the roman ruins and the streets that recall Venice - is traditional and the churches found here are significant (S. Maria delle Grazie, the Duomo and the Baptistery).
On the return we will go via Grado Lagoon, where you will be able to admire a succession of casoni, sandbars, fish farms and several kinds of birds.
