Pupi & Pini: That devil Harlequin

“Pupi & Pini” returns in 2026, the street and puppet theatre festival dedicated to families. All shows are aimed at a family audience. The common thread of the festival is the strong link between children's literature and live performance, with many artists known for their talent and professionalism in the scenic arts, from traditional oral tales to novels, classic fairy tales to contemporary texts.

The third event is Monday, July 13th at 9:30 pm at UNICEF Park in Lignano Riviera with "Quel diavolo di Arlecchino," a theater and puppet show (shadow puppets, marionettes, and puppets), presented by Compagnia Bambabambin. Before becoming the silly and good-natured servant of the Commedia dell'Arte, Harlequin had a glorious and terrifying past among the infernal hosts. Known by names like Alichino or Hellequin, his origins lie in the myth of the Wild Hunt, a band of spirits that terrorized the nights of Northern Europe. The show retraces the history of the world's most famous mask, reinterpreting it with a modern, ironic perspective and simple, fun language.
