National Stage of Sand Basket

The National Stage of Sand Basket will be held on Thursday 09 July 2026 at the Beach Arena (Beach Office 5 of Sabbiadoro).

On Thursday 09 July 2026, the National Sand Basket Stage will take place at the Beach Arena (Office 5, Sabbiadoro) in Lignano Sabbiadoro.

With the Lignano Sabbiadoro stage, the national Sand Basket circuit will officially kick off. Sand Basket, the exciting basketball-on-sand discipline, attracts thousands of enthusiasts in some of Italy’s most famous seaside destinations.

Teams will compete in three categories: Mini, Under, and Senior.
Registration is open to all.

Founded in 2012 and officially recognized by AICS as a sports discipline in 2018, with Tarmak/Decathlon as official technical partner, Sand Basket has quickly become a national point of reference and has also expanded internationally, reaching countries such as Denmark, Germany, India, and Brazil.

Since the launch of the national championship in 2019, Sand Basket has continued to bring energy and excitement to Italian summers, becoming a major sporting event not only for basketball lovers but also for fans of many other sports.

In 2025, Sand Basket, created by Dr. Gianpaolo Porfidia in 2012, once again became a leading attraction on beaches across Italy. As tradition continues, Northern Italy takes center stage with the event hosted in Lignano Sabbiadoro at the Beach Arena.

The event ambassador is Michele Antonutti, a symbol of Friulian basketball, who chose to support this new summer Sand Basket initiative in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The event will involve around 200 athletes from all over Italy competing for the “FVG National Stage Trophy”, with the winning teams qualifying for the National Finals.

The sports event promotes healthy and engaging fun, bringing young people closer to sport through the values of fair play, respect, teamwork, and collaboration.

The sand becomes a court, the sun turns into a spotlight, and the energy of the crowd lights up every play: the 2026 SAND BASKET National Stage is the most anticipated sporting show of the summer.
