One of the most peculiar and distinctive environments of the entire regional lagoon area is the Foci dello Stella Regional Natural Reserve, a protected area of 1377 hectares including the delta of the Stella river and some typical lagoon areas.
It is an exceptional ecosystem, a true paradise for birdwatchers. In fact, there are numerous birds, in terms of species and quantity, that can be seen here in the different seasons, including marsh harriers, mute swans, purple, gray and white herons.
The Foci dello Stella Regional Nature Reserve can only be reached by water through the delta of the Stella river from which you can then reach Precenicco and Palazzolo.
The spearhead of this place of great naturalistic value is the village of fishermen's huts, buildings entirely made of wood and marsh reeds that once served as a refuge for fishermen.
Inside them, in fact, there was a hearth that was used to warm up the cold and humid winter nights and to pamper the fishermen after a long day of fishing.
Even today, to preserve their identity, they are only kept by fishermen from Marano and are handed down from generation to generation.
Going up the delta of the River Stella, you will be lucky enough to reach the first of the last two balancing structures still in operation in the area, the Bilancia di Bepi. The balance sheets are traditional fishing nets driven by an electric motor that allow fishing to be carried out in a sustainable way.
Here you will have the opportunity to spend a day dedicated to the art of fishing, fresh lagoon fish and tranquillity. There are numerous experiences organized to make you live unique moments in this wonderful natural context.
