In the city of Lignano Sabbiadoro sport has a very significant tradition. It has been home to international events, such as EYOF 2005 and EMG 2011, and is an established destination for many national, European and world competitions: from karate to water polo, from judo to beach rugby, from beach football to beach tennis, rhythmic gymnastics to table tennis.
Thanks to the creation of high quality sport facilities, like Olympic swimming pools, the sports arena and the multipurpose sports centre, the beach arena, the golf club – just to mention the main ones - Lignano has been chosen as the place to prepare for many national competitions and Olympic championships, like the Jamaican sprinting team that trains here for most of the year.
Lignano is also the historical base of the Athletics Sport Association Meeting and the World Dance Trophy, both of which have international appeal.
Every year in September there is a great sport celebration in Lignano that takes place every weekend, which is not to be missed. Called Lignano Never Stops, it is a festival of sporting events dedicated to both professional and amateur athletes.
It is an unmissable occasion to do sport surrounded by the pine forest, the sea and the beach, while practicing fun disciplines. The legendary Sup Race is one of these, an amateur regatta of stand up paddle boarding, which includes people of all ages and lots of children.
The Sun & Run is a must, the race - open to all runners – which takes you through some of the most stunning areas in Lignano Sabbiadoro.
The great Triathlon is one of the stars of our sport filled September, with a breathtaking competition that is valid for national ranking.
High octane adrenalin features in the Beach Bike event too, which is dedicated to mountain bike lovers who want to challenge themselves over our pine forest’s terrains.
