Trieste and the Caves of Postojna

Meeting point, accommodation by bus and departure for Trieste. 

Arrival in Piazza Unità d'Italia, where the blue of the Adriatic sea overlooks one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, where a local guide organises a city-tour of the Middle-European city, a mixture of elegant Hapsburg architectures and Roman rests, historic cafès and castles, a land on the border where the different cultures mix.

Lunch needs to be taken care of by the participants.

In the afternoon there will be a tour in Slovenia for the entry and guided tour in the Grotte di Postumia, the most-known and important karstic caves. An amazing mixture of galleries, beautiful archs, salt, calcareous sculptures molded in small water drops during millions of years that people will see and go trough with a special train, on the only underground double-railway in the world.

07.30 am - 08.15 am departure by GT bus or minivan from the places of origin ** 

morning guided tour of the historic centre of Trieste ( Piazza Unità d’Italia, San Giusto, Borgo Teresiano, Canal Grande, Ponterosso, Piazza della Borsa) 

12.30 pm - 1.30 pm free time for the partecipants for lunch 

afternoon: transfer to Postumia (SLO)

3.00 pm entry and guided tour of the Grotte di Postumia

5.00 pm departure to go back to the places of origin

Booking conditions:

the reservation is mandatory and can be made by 16.00 on the day before the chosen date.

The excursion will be made only upon reaching a min. of participants (nr. 25)

Entry into Slovenia: all participants must travel with a valid document of identification for expatriation (no photocopies or documents in the photo)

For EU citizens: passport or identity card 

For non-EU citizens: passport and visa

Clothing recommended for the visit of the Caves: inside the caves the temperature is 8/11 ºC constant throughout the year. We recommend comfortable footwear, sneakers or otherwise equipped with rubber sole, a light jacket or a sweatshirt. Present yourself with a psychophysical condition, clothing and equipment suitable for the tour. If in doubt, discuss with the organization. 

Photographs and video footage: during the excursions will be taken photographs and/ or video footage that may appear on sites and social networks for promotional purposes regarding the activity itself. Participation in the excursion implies the authorization to the publication of the aforementioned material. If you do not want to appear, you must notify us at the time of booking or guides on site.
