From 08 December to 28 January

Sand Nativity 2017

From 8th December 2017 till 28th January 2018 you can visit the Sand Nativity in Lignano Sabbiadoro, it's the 14th edition of the event, the most important of the Christmas calendar in the city.

Organized by Associazione Dome Aghe and Savalon d’Aur, with the support of Lignano Municipality, in collaboration with Pro Loco Lignano, Lignano in Fiore Onlus, Lignano Sabbiadoro Gestioni and the help of the local associations, the majestic work will be inaugurated on 8th December in the tent structure in front of Beach Office n.4 in Lignano Sabbiadoro.

The topic of the sand nativity 2017 follows the one of the 2016 edition focused on Friuli Venezia Giulia history. Last year the setting of the nativity scene was the earthquake of 1976 which celebrated its 40 years, this year the topic is the First World War, Caporetto and the migration that followed that historic moment.

Even if the topic is the First World War you will not find in Lignano Sand Nativity foxholes, weapons or wire fences, rather moments of everyday life during the war with the main characters that are typical of that moment and symbol of strenght like Alpine troops and Red Cross nurses.

For the first time not just sand will be used: the nativity scene will experiment the use of multimedial techniques that will be useful to trasmit the many complex aspects of the represented topic.

Besides the Sand Nativity it will be possible to visit the Christmas markets, skate on the ice rink and eat and drink in the food trucks
