On Tuesday, January 13th, 2026 at 8:45 PM, the show “Il Clown dei Clown” by David Larible will take the stage at the Cinecity in Lignano Sabbiadoro.
Defined for years by the press as “the greatest classical clown of our time,” David Larible is perhaps the only living comedian capable of performing both for the intimate audiences of theatres and for huge venues like Madison Square Garden, where he was seen by over 120,000 people in a single weekend. His smiling face appeared for years on the giant digital screens of Times Square in New York, where he performed with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, the legendary three-ring circus that brings its shows to major venues across North America.
For years, his performances have continued to achieve extraordinary success in theatres around the world.
Poetic and hilarious, melancholic and explosive, with his character inspired by the little rascal in Chaplin’s The Kid, Larible knows how to win the hearts of audiences of all ages and nationalities, thanks to the irresistible magic of his comedy.
Produced by Mosaico Errante, a company dedicated to bringing the art and tradition of popular theatre to venues throughout Italy and across the world, Il Clown dei Clown is his theatrical one-man show — the ultimate collection of his best comic acts. It tells the story of a theatre janitor who dreams of becoming a clown… and succeeds!
He arrives softly, with a distracted look, hands in his pockets, an uncertain step. But with just a few gestures, his walk transforms into a whirlwind of laughter. He captivates, seduces, and moves the audience. Supported by an equally funny character (comedian Andrea Ginestra), who unsuccessfully tries to contain his exuberance, Larible plays with timeless icons of Italian culture: the prima ballerina, opera, classical music. He brings to life a unique clowning style that merges the poetic humour of contemporary visual comedy with the vibrant authenticity of popular entertainment, enriched by musical pieces he performs himself (he can play five instruments), accompanied on the piano by Maestro Mattia Gregorio.
What David brings to the stage is a true story — an artistic confession, a sincere portrait, a small but profound manual of laughter and poetry.
At the end of the show, after removing the symbolic mask from the audience, David can finally take off his own, returning with humility to the role of the janitor, ending exactly where he began: as an ordinary man. With the soul of a clown. The Clown of Clowns.
Over the years, this show has graced the stages of the most important theatres in Italy and around the world, receiving resounding success everywhere: from the Goldoni Theatre in Venice to the Winter Theatre in Sochi (Russia), from the Donizetti in Bergamo to the Gran Teatro Nacional in Lima (Peru), from Teatro Vittoria in Rome to the Simón Bolívar in Quito (Ecuador), from the Bellini in Naples to the Verdi in Florence, including the Duse in Bologna and the Théâtre Princesse Grace in Monte Carlo.
