Within the Festival Lignano Noir 2026, on Tuesday 24 February 2026 at 5:30 p.m., Tiziano Fratus will present his essay “L'affare Simenon” at the Biblioteca Comunale di Lignano Sabbiadoro, in conversation with Oscar d'Agostino and Cecilia Scerbanenco—a special event dedicated to crime and noir fiction rooted in our territory.
Tiziano Fratus, writer and poet, is an expert and passionate reader of Georges Simenon. At the Library he will present his essay dedicated to the life and works of one of the most popular and prolific authors of the 20th century. His book is a true “guide to the writer”, ranging from the novels featuring Commissaire Maigret to the vast narrative production populated with other characters, themes, and settings.
From Il porto delle nebbie to Il caso Saint-Fiacre, from Il testamento Donadieu to Pedigree, Fratus leads a genuine “investigation” into the Belgian writer, offering readers a “vademecum” to navigate more easily through the vast “human comedy” that still fascinates Simenon’s audience today.
The event is organised by the Biblioteca Comunale di Lignano Sabbiadoro as part of the Festival Lignano Noir, a literary programme that pays tribute to Giorgio Scerbanenco, recognised master of Italian crime fiction. After discovering Lignano as a tourist, captivated by the shimmering colours of the sea, the pinewood, and the modernity of a city taking shape, he chose it as his home and as an inspiring setting for his novels.
