Also for 2023, the Punta Verde Zoo in Lignano proposes close encounters with giraffes starting from 12 June to 14 September on the following days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday at 3.00 pm and Tuesday at 11.30 am. Days and times may be subject to change based on weather conditions. The minimum age to take part to the experience is 8 years and the maximum number of participants is 3 people.

With less than 90,000 giraffes left in the wild, it's time to take action to secure a future for this species. The Punta Verde Zoo Park, together with the Punta Verde on-site NGO contributes to the protection of giraffes by donating part of the entrance ticket price to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation. This foundation, based in Namibia, is active in the conservation of giraffes,. The donation allows the purchase of equipment for field research such as satellite radio-collars and camera traps and the carrying out of educational projects to raise awareness of young Namibians in their respect for nature and the importance of the species’ conservation.

The close encounter with the zoo's giraffes takes place on a roof terrace that can be reached via a staircase. The activity begins at its base where a food enrichment will be prepared together with one of the park's educators. The visit continues on the roof terrace where the educator will place the enrichment and you will be able to get excited by observing the tallest mammals in the world from a privileged point of view.

Close encounters with giraffes have an additional cost of € 10.00 per person which is entirely donated to research and conservation projects in collaboration with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation based in Namibia.

The Punta Verde on site NGO, an association that is active in the field of environmental education and the conservation of the environment and endangered species, is offering environmental education activities at the beach establishments in Lignano Riviera, Pineta and Sabbiadoro for the ninth year running, in collaboration with the Spiaggia Viva Consortium and Punta Verde Zoo Park.

The environmental education activities at the “mini-clubs” found close to the beach establishments aims to make the participants aware of the abundance of the oceans and seas, the Adriatic especially, but also of its fragility and the need to protect it.

Games and entertainment will be used to lead your children in their discovery of this environment and to recommend some small, daily acts that can be done to preserve it.

The activities are free and aimed at children between 6 and 12 and will not be held if it rains or there is bad weather.

3 activities are planned, each with a theme that will be taught independently from the others and they will be offered in rotation.

The individual activities aim to strengthen the children’s powers of observation and to enrich their understanding of the marine eco-system and the biodiversity that characterises it in particular. The games and entertainment will be sources of reflection on the exceptional resource that the marine environment represents, as well as tools for familiarising them with it, and they will attempt to encourage them to act correctly.

Different teaching tools will be used every time we meet: drawings, cards, the handling of natural materials, experiments and role-playing. What’s more, for every activity the children will create small items that relate to the activity carried out, which they will be able to keep as a souvenir of the day.

The streets of art: historic villas, mosaics and sculptures in Lignano Pineta

What binds Lignano to Spilimbergo, to Aurisina, to the mountains and rivers of Friuli Venezia Giulia?

A long and ancient thread made of stones, stone, enamels, mosaic art and sculpture that, crossing mountains, plains and pine forests, descends like a thin river to the sea.

During a pleasant walk along the promenade of Lignano Pineta, in the cooler hours of the day, in the company of an authorized tour guide, you can admire the colorful mosaics that decorate the rotundas. Inspired by the works of important regional artists and created by the mosaic masters of the Friuli Mosaic School, with their changing colors and different styles and materials, they now form a real open-air artistic path.

The visit will then continue towards the "Parco del Mare" of Lignano Pineta, where you can discover, in the splendid shaded context of the pine forest, the charm, meanings and history of the sculptures that adorn the park and of the artists who created these works, in the course of the ten editions of the "International Meetings of Sculpture on Piasentina and Aurisina Stone" and which have transformed this strip of pine forest into an original place of culture and art, which satisfies the eye and enriches the minds of those who reside here, they pass or spend their holidays.

It will therefore be a unique opportunity to observe them at work and converse with them during the guided tour.

Roman in origin, Marano Lagunare reached its peak in the past under the Aquileia Patriarchs. From 1420 to 1797 it was a Venetian fortress for Venice. The architectural structure of the town bears testament to this history.

The family run "I Gommosi" Play Park was created in 1999 in the "Parco del Mare" - Sea Park - area of Lignano Pineta. In 2003 the play park was moved fifty metres and since then it has been continuously renovated.

Only children pay at the park and they can play freely on all of the inflatable games, without any time limits. That means that parents can come and go from the play area as they please. For those that prefer to stay in the area, there is a park with benches and beach umbrellas.

A huge galleon to play pirates on with many new friends. There are slides, swings and castles located directly on the sand with comfortable wooden walkways to reach them.

Here on the beach of Lignano Sabbiadoro stands Pirates’ Island, a free and inclusive playground that is an equipped area where children with physical or sensory disabilities or with movement problems can play and have fun in safety, along with everyone else.

A few steps from the umbrellas, near the Aurora Bar and Restaurant and just a few hundred metres from the Beach Village and the Beach Arena, it is visible and accessible from the new Lungomare Trieste. With its central and ultra-convenient location, Pirates’ Island is easily accessible for families with children renting a beach umbrella from the offices number 6 and 7 at Sabbiadoro and for customers of nearby kiosks, hotels and commercial facilities.

PATHS ALONG HISTORY AND BEAUTY IN LIGNANO SABBIADORO

“The streets of History: A tour through the places of the history of Lignano and its citizens”

It may sound strange, but even the young Lignano has a story to tell! More than a century has now passed since the first families of farmers and fishermen decided to settle permanently in Lignano. But the history of this peninsula dates back to much older times, as evidenced by the presence of the small church dedicated to San Zaccaria, a little secluded and which not everyone knows.

And then there is the more recent history, made up of early tourism, times of war, pioneer families, economic development, new forms of tourism, progress aimed at the future.

All narrated by those who grew up here and enriched by the memories and anecdotes of those who built and lived Lignano since its beginnings.

RESERVATION REQUIRED AT TRAVELONE TRAVEL AGENCY - LIGNANO SABBIADORO by the evening before the date of the guided tour for those in the morning and by 12 noon of the same day for those in the afternoon.

The guided tour will be carried out once the minimum number of participants is reached and mainly following an outdoor itinerary and always accompanied by an authorized tour guide from Friuli Venezia Giulia.

In compliance with the rules for the containment of Covid, the guided tour will be carried out in a small group and in compliance with the distancing measures of one meter between non-cohabiting people.

Remember to bring a mask (to be worn outdoors only in case of gatherings and always indoors)

For the "The streets of History" excursion, it is possible to rent bicycles free of charge for those without one, subject to availability.

Upon request, and for pre-established groups, the possibility of further different dates and times for all three itineraries, also in German.

Comes directly from the United States where it is a must in the most beautiful beaches of the two coasts. It is pure fun for adults and children: wide and absolutely safe thanks to the inflatable structure and very high edges, it is an explosion of color and joy in one of the most loved stretches of beach of Lignano Sabbiadoro.

The slide was installed by the ForFun company in collaboration with Lignano Sabbiadoro Gestioni SpA, which, always looking for new ideas to renew the tourist offer, has granted the space on the beach at the Beach Office 11. Another equal structure is present also on the stretch of beach of the Camping Pino Mare in Lignano Riviera.

Take part to the guided tours of Lignano Sabbiadoro accompanied by an authorized tourist guide of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.

The excursions (bilingual, in Italian and German) take place every week on a regular basis on the following days:

• WEDNESDAY at 9.30 am: “The paths of history: the history of Lignano and its people”
• WEDNESDAY at 9.00 pm: "Historic villas, mosaics and sculptures in Lignano Pineta”

The excursions on Tuesdays and Thursdays take place on foot while the Wednesday one takes place by bicycle.
