Kite surfing is a relatively recent water sport, invented in the late 1990s in the windswept waters of Hawaii, and later exported even to the beaches of the upper Adriatic, like the 8 km-long strand in Lignano where kite surfing has become a must-do all year round.

Kite surfing requires special equipment: a board and a kite controlled using a bar.

In Lignano Sabbiadoro, Kite surfing is quickly gaining popularity and there are qualified schools where you can learn the sport with courses for adults and children.

During winter (from October to May), you can kite surf freely right along the length of Lignano Sabbiadoro beach, while in summer it is forbidden near the beach but is possible at the nearby, uninhabited Conchiglie island.

Conchiglie Island is situated just a few hundred metres from the Santa Monica boardwalk (better known for its picturesque Faro Rosso) and offers the beach with the strongest wind in all of Lignano Sabbiadoro, lifting all the Kite Boarders high in the sky.

From April/May to October, aspiring kiters are taken by qualified instructors in a dinghy as far as Conchiglie Island where – taking basic kite surfing courses – they can learn and improve their kite surfing techniques in total freedom and safety.

Conchiglie Island, with its golden sand and shallow waters, is the ideal spot for kite surfing lessons and practise. The sea wind will take you back what is a clear sandy beach perfect for onland exercises and equipment assembly.

Nature Experience is one of the experiences organized by Laguna Experience, a proposal for tourists organized by three expert seamen.

Birdwatching, sport and traditional fishing are the activities offered by Laguna Experience to the nature and healthy living lovers. The keyword of this package of experiences is Slow Emotion. 

All the proposed activities are sustainable and in harmony with the delicate lagoon environment. 

During the Laguna Experience you will go through a trip across Marano Lagoon, visiting the River Stella Nature Reserve listening to the explanation of the natural wonders.

You will stop at the Bilancia di Bepi – literally Bepi’s lift net - to take part in dropping said lift net into the river.

Finally you will stop at a traditional lagoon casone, fisherman’s hut.

Parasailing is a sport that developed in the early 80s; you basically use a parasail pulled by a motorboat. The motorboat's speed lets the passenger effortlessly raise up to the desired height after being appropriately harnessed.

Parasailing is becoming more and more popular in Lignano. In fact, many beach centres organise boat trips to let tourists experience the thrill of seeing Lignano Sabbiadoro from above with the wind in their sails, all while being pulled by a boat.

When you rise up into the air with a parachute you get a great adrenaline rush which quickly turns into delight and surprise when you are suspended in air. While anchored to a boat, you are gently pulled into the sky off the coast of Lignano to admire the breathtaking view of the entire Riviera from above.

When you watch parasailing from below, it may seem like a sport that is only suited to those who are strong and brave, but parasailing is an activity suitable for anyone and for all ages. Indeed, no specific physical abilities are required for parasailing, especially since it is the force of the air that does everything while you comfortably sit, safely harnessed, taking it all in.

Once you rise up into the air, you are led to a height ranging from 35 to 100 metres above sea level. From up there everything will seem small and far away, where you don’t hear the noise of the beach and the city.

The rise and descent take place directly on the back of the boat. You can parasail alone or in pairs.

Up-close encounters with lemurs are completely unique experiences that we recommend trying at least once in your life.

The 12th of June start again the awaited "Lemurs encounters", a unique opportunity to closely admire these amazing prosimian from Madagascar and help to safeguard them in their birthplace.

In groups of a maximum of 8 people per visit, one of the zoo teachers will lead you through the ring-tailed lemur section so that you can discover and admire these beautiful prosimians from Madagascar.

The encounters take place every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 10.00 am and at 11.00 am till the end of September (24th). The cost of the activity is € 10,00 per person that will automatically devolved to the Park conservation projects.

Kayaking in Lignano Sabbiadoro is easy above all because it is an activity for everyone, even those trying a kayak for the first time. The city has numerous sailing, windsurfing and stand up paddle schools along the coast that offer kayaks and paddles for hire.

Spending an hour or more off the shores of Lignano Sabbiadoro while paddling in the sun is a pleasant way to spend a relaxing day on the beach, even more so if you reach the Red Lighthouse of Sabbiadoro, the Pagoda Bar of Pineta or the mouth of the Tagliamento River.

Kayaks are also perfect for those seeking total immersion in nature: kayaks are completely eco-friendly and let you discover a less-known side of Lignano Sabbiadoro, that of the Marano Lagoon and the mouth of the Stella River, paddling among waterfowl in their natural habitat and discovering traditional huts.

Kayak Experience is an organised tour that includes a boat ride from Lignano Sabbiadoro to Bilancia di Bepi, an old lagoon hut with its own mechanically-operated fishing net traditionally used to fish in the lagoon. Once you reach Bilancia di Bepi you leave the boat behind for kayaks, to then meander among the reeds and placid waters of the Stella River Nature Reserve.

After providing brief instructions on kayaking, the excursions are led by the owner of Bilancia di Bepi, Daniele, who has extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna. He will guide you through the maze of reeds, including a stop at a typical lagoon hut.

Sports lovers and health enthusiasts now have a new passion in Lignano Sabbiadoro as well: Nordic walking.

Grab those ultralight poles and wear comfortable clothes: that’s all you need, and you're ready for a long walk on the beach, along the lagoon or in the shade of maritime pines.

Nordic walking has reached the beaches of Lignano Sabbiadoro from far-away Finland, offering all those who wish to stroll without putting in a great deal of effort or requiring technical or physical preparation to enjoy long walks in the open air with a slow, steady pace.

In fact, anyone can practice Nordic walking, and while it's a great workout for athletes, it is also an opportunity to go outside and rediscover the joy of moving around for those who are more sedentary.

Anyone can go Nordic walking in Lignano in total freedom and autonomy, but a basic Nordic walking course is recommended to learn the basics of posture control, foot use, pole function, active arm work and pace adjustment.

Indeed, Lignano Sabbiadoro has a group of people who are passionate about this sport and wanted to enjoy their Nordic walks in the company of others. This gave rise to the Lignano Nordic Walking Association; it organises basic Nordic walking courses, with excursions on the beach and around Lignano throughout the year as well as special events such as moonlight walks and women-only walks.

The "Nordic Walk" becomes a fixed appointment in the summer of Lignano Pineta! Every Tuesday morning, meeting at 8.15 and departure at 8.30 at Beach 2 - German flag of Lignano Pineta, it will be possible to practice the widespread sporting discipline under the guidance of the professional instructor Paolo De Nardo. From a first path on the beach you will pass to the Kechler seafront and then to the nearby pine forest and then return to the beach and continue the path in the water, using the special sticks made available to the participants by the organization.
