Close encounters with the Giraffes
Reach the height of the giraffes and look at them directly in the eye.
With less than 90,000 giraffes left in the wild, it's time to take action to secure a future for this species. The Punta Verde Zoo Park, together with the Punta Verde on-site NGO contributes to the protection of giraffes by donating part of the entrance ticket price to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation. This foundation, based in Namibia, is active in the conservation of giraffes,. The donation allows the purchase of equipment for field research such as satellite radio-collars and camera traps and the carrying out of educational projects to raise awareness of young Namibians in their respect for nature and the importance of the species’ conservation.
If you want to do more you can participate in one of the close encounters with Zoo’s giraffes. Using the high seat placed near our giraffe enclosure you can reach their height and look them directly in the eye while they eat succulent fruits and fresh leaves provided by our staff using their incredible prehensile tongues. Accompanied by a Zoo educator, you can learn about the giraffe’s world and fall in love with it! An emotion not to be missed that will help slow the silent decline of this species due to poaching.
The minimum age take part in the experience is 8 years. Close encounters with giraffes are possible from 20th June to 7th September, Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30, 11:30 and 15:00. The days and times are subject to change according to weather conditions.
We recommend booking by email no later than 6.00 pm on the day before the visit (email@example.com) or by telephone during Park opening hours (+39 0431 428775). At the time of booking it is necessary to provide a telephone number. Close encounters with giraffes are possible thanks to a precious contribution of S.O.G.IT. Lignano Sabbiadoro.
