The Lignano SUP Race takes place on the first weekend of September in Piazza Marcello d'Olivo in Lignano Pineta. The past editions have had attendance records.
The 2015 edition received 283 athletes from all over Europe. The countries most involved are Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland and Holland, thus giving the opportunity to make this splendid amateur sports competition known internationally.

The SUP Race Lignano is a creation of the N.E.W.A a.s.d. (North East Watersports Association) who is also the organizer of the event in Lignano Sabbiadoro. The non-profit event can take place with the support of: the Patronage of the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro, the beach granted and made available by Lignano Pineta SPA, various local and non-local sponsors.
This event has as its main objective the dissemination of water sports and the discipline of SUP, which in recent years as well as being a fashion is known and practiced all over the world.

Given the results of all the past five editions, this year the number of registrations is expected to be around 400 athletes. Consequently, N.E.W.A. is organizing logistically to create the largest event in Italy, always maintaining the non-profit line.
